IP Rating: Nowadays there is such a big range in the smartphone market that every brand is getting into the field with its special features. One of these important features is the IP rating, which decides how safe your phone is from external things like water and dust. But do you know what this IP rating actually happens?

What is IP Rating?

IP complete means ingrass protection, that is, protection from the entry of elements like dust or water inside the device. This is an international standard, which shows what extent your phone can avoid water and dust. The IP rating is written in this way – two digits after IP, such as IP67, IP68, IP69 etc. The first digit (from 0 to 6) states how much protection the phone gives from dust or solid particles. The second digit (from 0 to 9) tells how safe the phone is from water or fluids. Keep in mind, the larger the number, the more security.

Common IP Rating and their meaning:

IP67: This phone is completely safe with dust and does not spoil even when drowning in 1 meter deep water for 30 minutes.

IP68: It gives better protection – 1.5 meters can remain in water for 30 minutes.

IP69: This is the most powerful rating ever, which can also save the phone in high-pressure water jet and deep water.

Many premium smartphones like iPhone 15, Samsung Galaxy S24 come with this IP68 or IP69 rating.

Are cheap phones also waterproof?

Earlier features like IP68 were available only in expensive flagship phones. But now brands like Redmi, Realme, Motorola and IQO have started launching phones with good IP ratings even within Rs 20,000. Therefore, if security with water is necessary for you, then check its IP rating while purchasing the phone.

What should be kept in mind in the end?

If you want such a phone that can be safe from rain, accidentally falling into water or even splash, then it would be intelligent to take a phone with at least IP68 rating. And if you use the phone rough or use more in the outside environment, then the phone with IP69 rating will be perfect for you.
