Airbnb Ceo: CEO Brian Cheski, CEO of Airbnb, while giving his views on AI chatbots, said that it is too early to consider tools like Chatgpt, Claude and Perplexity as ‘new Google’. He admitted that the AI capacity is quite large but this technology is still in the early stage of development and it will take time to reach the search engine level.

Why AI can’t replace Google?

Chesky told the investors, “I don’t think we should consider them as ‘new google’ right now.” According to him, AI chatbott is useful in customer service and personalization but they have not been able to become a complete option of traffic and referrals from search engines like Google.

He also reminded that the AI model running the chatgpt is not proprietary (special ownership). AirbNB can also use the same API and many other companies can also implement it. According to Cheski, success in AI is not just in keeping the best model but in the correct application to fine-tune the custom interface and model.

How is Airbnb AI using AI?

The company said that his AI Customer service agent in the US has reduced about 15% in such cases where guests had to talk to the human agent. This AI agent is made from 13 different models and has been trained on data of millions of conversations. Currently it is only available in English but this year it will be introduced in more languages. By next year it will become more personalized and independent, that is, if a reservation wants to cancel, it will not only tell the way but will also complete that process itself.

Apart from this, this agent will also help customers to plan and book travel. Chesky believes that AI chatbots are changing customers interactions of companies but currently they are an enhancer, not replacement.
