
Let us know that to implicate in this trap, scammer sends you a blurred picture i.e. blur image on WhatsApp with an unknown number. Such a message is written with that photo which greatly increases your curiosity. In this, “Is this your old photo?”, “Are you in it? Look right!” A message like “Look who is this …”.

By reading such messages, most people try to open that picture. As soon as you click, you are sent to a fake link. This is where the process of cheating you starts.

Through this link, you are taken to the fake website. You are asked for OTP, bank details or personal information. Sometimes this link installs viruses or malware in your phone.

Through this scam, money can disappear from your bank account. Social media accounts like Whatsapp, Facebook or Instagram can be hacked. Personal photos or data can be stolen. Virus or spyware may come in the phone.

To avoid this scam, you have to take care of some important things. Do not open any picture or link from unknown number. Strengthen the privacy settings of Whatsapp.

Be sure to keep two-step verification on. Place a good anti-virus app installed in the phone. If you are accidentally clicked, change the password immediately and inform the bank.
