Hair does not define someone’s personality. But if you are planning a hair transplant, then it is also important to know about the short and long term risks related to it. Also know how to identify the right doctor and the right clinic in this special interview of health-dialogue.
There is an unscientific and old saying that hairs start flying from the heads of rich men. This saying is unscientific, but it has been protecting men from stress, which is born in men due to increasing emptiness in the crown area. Hair does not affect the health of any person. But this can be a sign of changes in health. Whereas, susceptible to their look connects it with confidence. There are many actors in Bollywood and Hollywood who have made ‘Wig’ their permanent identity. While people like Anupam Kher are also no less, who made their heads without hair both their identity and confidence.
We have always supported body positivity on health shots and hair is also a part of this. Hair does not decide a person’s personality and identity.
Why hair starts to reduce?
Both women and men face hair fall. But mail patterns are seen more in men. In which the forehead begins to widen and the hair line goes back and back. In some people, it is also seen in the middle of the head. The reason for this in men is the “active” type of testosterone, called dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
According to research published on the National Library of Medicine, one part of men has a special kind of gene, which makes their hair Rome sensitive to DHT. In hair treatment, an attempt is made to reduce this hormone, so that the hair can be prevented further.

These days, when the hair loss and decrease in the youth are increasing due to many reasons, then hair transplant has raised hope among those who prefer thick hair on their heads. But the recent incident of Kanpur has raised questions on this treatment.
What is Kanpur hair transplant case
The death of Vineet Dubey and Mayank Katiyar of Kanpur has created panic in the entire industry of hair transplant. Mayank Katiyar conducted a hair transplant on 18 November 2024. The next day he died on 19 November. Similarly, Vineet Dubey had a hair transplant on 13 March 2025 and he also died on 15 March two days later. Both of them had a hair transplant from the same clinic in Kanpur.

Can hair treatment be pushed to someone in the mouth of death? This is a big question, which is harassing most people. Therefore, to talk in detail on this issue, we talked to the well-known hair transplant surgeon Dr. Gajanan Jadhav. Dr. Gajanan is a prestigious hair transplant surgeon in Pune, a dermatologist, anesthesiologist and critical care specialist. He has a 26 -year experience of medicine and 10 years in the field of hair transplant.
Special pillars of health shots talk to them about hair transplant today in health-dialogue.
Q 1. The first and direct question, can hair transplant cause someone’s death?
Dr. Gajanan: A total of seven to eight people died in hair transplant surgery so far. But the direct reason for this has been a hair transplant, there is doubt on this. Till now it can be said that hair transplantation is a safe surgery.
It is a skin surgery, and a superstitious layer covering the skin body. It also protects your body. But there is no such organ that is directly responsible for running a person’s life.
We have to understand that our skin is not an essential organ. It is not as risky as the surgery of kidney, liver, brain, heart or lungs. This is not even a risk factor at a C-section surgery for a woman. Hair transplant is a different type of surgery. In which neither bleeding is done nor any major organ damage. If there is any risk, it may be related to anesthesia. Therefore, a lot of care is required on its use.
During this surgery, you have to stay in the clinic for at least 6-12 hours. This surgery runs in the clinic for these 6–12 hours. For such a long period, proper use of anesthesia is very important. In which case it is very important to take care of how many doses of anesthesia are to be given. In this, even a little carelessness can cause a big risk. Anaphylaxis reaction can occur if the anesthesia is high, which can also lead to the life of the patient.
Q 2. What is its general risk factor, which the person and their family should pay attention to?
Dr. Gajanan : The most important thing is to see whether the hair transplant is really needed or not. If you do not have baldness and have a normal problem of hair fall, then you can get relief from changes in medicine and lifestyle. If baldness is more than two to three finger, then we recommend transplant. After this, choosing the right doctor and the right clinic is also an important responsibility.
The doctor who has specialized in MBBS, dermatologist and plastic surgery will be the same doctor. It is also important to see how much he has experience in surgery.
Nowadays some maxilofacial surgeons have also started doing such surgery, which are basically dentists. But they specialize in plastic and maxillofestle. But this is not only a matter of degree. This is a kind of art. You have to see how the artificial thing gives a natural look.
The third most important thing is experience. This prepares you to be careful about potential risks.

Q 3. What are the risks other than death, which may have to be encountered after hair transplant?
Dr. Gajanan: Normally, the problem of inflammation has been seen on the face and forehead due to anesthesia, which goes on its own within ten days. This inflammation is a kind of heaviness. But there is no pain in it. If the patient is in pain, he should be given immediate attention. That is, there has been a mistake somewhere.
Apart from this, if there are rash in the body, dizziness, having trouble or breathing, you should immediately contact a doctor. These are signs of disturbances in surgery and can be dangerous if negligent.
Secondary competitions occur after two to three days. Which is called delay healing. Sometimes doctors work in high density to satisfy the patient and give good results. Due to which blood flow is interrupted. Therefore, the philopup of surgery is very important.
If a good doctor asks for every day photo from you, talks to you regularly and gives followup. So that any kind of complexity can be understood and corrected immediately.
Hair transplant also has some long term side effects. These include pimples, feeling of heaviness in the head, too much itching and rashness. But all these can be treated.
Q 4. Does a person with a particular medical condition need to take special precautions for hair transplant?
Dr. Gajanan: This is an important question. If you have diabetes, bacterial infection, fungal infection, hypertension, heart disease, then you should avoid hair transplant.
Q 5. What should a person ask his expert before getting a hair transplant done?
Dr. Gajanan: If you are already taking any medicine, then take advice from the doctor to ensure that the medicine is to be launched or closed at the time of transplant. For example, if you are heart patient and taking platelet -reducing drugs (such as blood thinner), they have to be closed. At the same time, BP and diabetes medicines are usually continued. All this should be decided with the advice of your doctor.
In addition, it is necessary to close the intake of smoking and alcohol seven days before and seven days after the transplant. If you can stay away from them for 10 to 15 days, then you get even better results.
If you are applying minoxidil, it should be closed at least seven days before the Hair Transplant. Then you can start it after 10 to 15 days. My advice is to start it again after 15 days.
If you are taking green tea or something that makes the blood thin, then it is also necessary to close it. Turn off exercise 2-3 days before the transplant. Also, start using anti-dandruff shampoo from a month in advance so that the skin remains clean and healthy and does not cause dandruff problems. This brings better hair transplant results.
If transplant fut (follicular unit transplantation) technique is being done, then light massage should be done on the head of the head. This increases the flexibility of the skin and when stitches in the back are stitches, they are easily cured.
Q 6. How are hair transplant figures in women and men right now? Who do more? And for whom the risk factors are more?
When I talk about hair transplantation in men and women, first of all we have to understand that baldness is more common among those who are men. Male pattern Baldness is usually seen in men, in which the entire head is empty.

On the other hand, if you talk about women, then baldness does not happen in them as it appears in men. The density of hair in women can be reduced, but the head is very rare. Therefore hair can look thinner in women, but bald patches are much less visible than men.
The number of hair transplantation in women is very less. My personal experience and practice says that the proportion of women in transplant is only 1 percent.
Among all the hair transplant I have done so far, about 93 percent of cases are men, and only 1 percent of women cases. That is, the need or demand for hair transplantation in women is very limited.
Hair transplantation (Hair Transplant Risk) has the same risk for both men and women, as the process is the same for both. It cannot be said whether men have more risk or in women.
The method of surgery, the technology used, anesthesia and post-operative care-all these things remain the same in the case of both. Therefore, the level of risk is also equal for both.
