Aadhaar Update: Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is now going to bring a big facility for Aadhaar users. Soon people will be able to update the address and mobile number registered in their Aadhaar through the Aadhaar app while sitting at home. After this, there will be no need to go to the enrollment center, carry documents or stand in long queues.

Now you will not have to visit Aadhaar Center

At present, to change mobile number or address, it is mandatory to go to the Aadhaar center where the process of identity verification and document submission takes place. This process proves to be quite difficult for the elderly, disabled and people living in remote areas. The new facility of UIDAI is being brought to reduce all these challenges, which will make the update process faster, easier and completely digital.

Digital verification facility will be available in Aadhaar app

UIDAI posted on Address update can be done completely online, while for changing the mobile number, the help of OTP verification and face authentication will be taken.

How will the online update process be completed?

The new feature will include two-level verification. First of all, a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the user on his existing or new mobile number. After this, face authentication will be done in the app in which the live face data will be matched with the Aadhaar record. With this, identity will be verified in a secure manner without any document.

Users will have to enter their Aadhaar number, select preferred language, verify OTP, and complete face authentication. Also, to increase security, a 6-digit security PIN has to be set in the app.

This facility is coming soon

UIDAI has said that this feature will be released soon. Users have been advised to install the Aadhaar app (available on both Android and iOS) on their smartphones from now on. All updates related to the feature launch will be shared on the official channels of UIDAI. This step is being considered a major change in the direction of making Aadhaar services completely digital and user-friendly.
