YouTube using ai: For several months, users and creators felt that something strange was happening in their video uploads. Google has admitted that it is quietly testing AI based video enhancement on YouTube. The company says that this experiment is being done to give the best video quality. But implementing it without giving information is annoying many creators. Earlier this year, users on YouTube shorts notices this change for the first time. In many videos, artifacts and distortion started appearing. Some people compared it to such photos that start appearing like painting when sharp than smartphones.

Displeasure and controversy of creators

Famous music YouTuber Rhett Shull recently made a video on the issue and claimed that YouTube is processing AI on the video without telling. He described it as an apsceling. However, YouTube’s Head of Editorial Rene Ritchie rejected it.

According to Richie, this technology is not generative AI but uses traditional machine learning tools. Its purpose is to reduce blur, reduce noise and make video sharp. But the creators argue that whether it is called AI, machine learning or upscelling results are that their videos are being changed without permission.

Threat on trust and image

Another concern about this change has emerged on the credibility of the creators. Criticism starts as soon as AI’s name is filled on the Internet. In such a situation, if youtube does AI edits on the video without telling, then the audience can consider creators using AI tools in misunderstandings. Google says that this is just a test and they want to make it better by taking feedback from the audience and creators. However, the question is why transparency was not shown from the beginning?
