
Semiconductor chip: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed on Wednesday that India’s first fully semiconductor chip will be launched this year. He said that the construction of five units is going on smoothly in this direction and testing of machines has also started in many places. The country’s first semiconductor factory is being formed with the partnership of Tata Electronics and Powerchip Semacter Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) in Dholera, Gujarat.
Government support to semiconductor mission
In February 2024, the government allowed the establishment of three semiconductor units in the country. Earlier in December 2021, the ‘Seemicon India program’ was approved by the Prime Minister, under which there is a plan to promote semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem by investing Rs 76,000 crore. Under this initiative, India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) has also been established which works under Digital India Corporation. Its purpose is to create a long strategy and promote semiconductor construction and design in the country.
India’s strong identity is also being made in AI
At the stand of India in the field of AI, the Union Minister said that the Foundational AI model of the country will be ready in 5-6 months. He said that there is a global talent in India, which is working fast in this direction. The Government of India has so far done 14,000 GPU resources resistors and plans to add further.
Big bounce in electronics field
In the last 10 years, electronics manufacturing in India has increased by 5 times and exports have increased by 6 times. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this change has been possible due to the government’s phased policy and plans like PLI. He also said that more than 25 lakh people have got employment in this area, many of which are from rural areas.
