Often people send adult videos, photos or jokes in groups for fun or joking. But if any member registers an objection to this, then under Section 67 of the IT Act, both jail and heavy fine can be imposed. Therefore, it is important to be responsible even before pressing forward because one click can increase your problems.
If you have shared a post in any group which contains anti-national talk or has used inflammatory language regarding any religion, caste or institution, then the police consider it a serious crime. In such cases, sections related to treason or anti-national activities may also be imposed, which may even lead to arrest.
Not only this, if objectionable photos, videos or content showing violence related to children is shared in any group, then it is considered a direct crime under the POCSO Act. There is a provision in this law for immediate action and arrest against those who share such content. Even if you send it as a joke or for entertainment, the law takes it very seriously.
At the same time, if any MMS video of fight, violence or someone is shared in any WhatsApp group, then it is also considered a crime under Section 66A and 153A of the IT Act. Such messages are considered to spread hatred in the society and the police takes strict action against them. Therefore, think twice before sharing any kind of controversial or inflammatory content because it can put both your image and freedom in danger.
WhatsApp is a useful and powerful medium but responsibility in its use is very important. If you are an administrator in a group, then your accountability increases even more because if a wrong message or video is shared in the group, the administration first seeks answers from the administrator. Spread happiness on festivals like Diwali but do not do anything that may lead to legal problems instead of happiness. Sending messages thoughtfully is the real sign of wisdom in today’s digital age.
