Dot new rule: The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has taken a big decision for mobile users, which has now become very easy to change the prepaid from prepaid or postpaid on network like Jio, Airtel, BSNL and VI. Earlier, where it had to wait for 90 days, now this process will be completed in just 30 days, that too through OTP-based KYC.

Giving information about this decision on its official X (East Twitter) handle, Dot said that now users will be able to change their current mobile connection within only 30 days. For this, they will have to complete the KYC process through OTP by visiting the store of the concerned telecom company.

What has changed in the rule?

In the old rule implemented on 21 September 2021, users had to wait 90 days to change the connection. But now this cooling period has been reduced to 30 days. This will provide relief to those users who want to change the plan due to poor network or service. They will not have to wait for three months long.

30 days discount for the first time

This rule will only apply to those making prepaid changes from prepaid or postpaid from prepaid. This means that for the first time, the user will have to wait for 30 days to change the plan.

What is the rule of repeated change?

If a user wants to change the plan again, then he will be allowed to change the OTP based process only 90 days after the last time change. Telecom companies have been instructed to ensure that they should inform the customers about this rule before changing the plan.

If a user wants to make changes again before the completion of 30 or 90 days period, then he can complete the KYC process and make this change from authorized stores or sales centers. This new rule of dot has been brought keeping in mind the convenience of the users, which has now become easier and faster than before.
