Chatgpt: In today’s digital age, Chatgpt has become as important for people as the Internet. Many users consider it not just an AI tool, but a friend from which they can share their hearts. Whether there are quarrels with girlfriends, confusion of career, strange thoughts of 2 o’clock in sleep or any question that is difficult to ask someone else, Chatgpt always listened without judge. But imagine, if these very private chats suddenly become public on Google? And the whole world could read them? One such shocking case has come up.

Chatgpt’s personal chats appeared in Google search

Recently, Chatgpt chats of thousands of users appeared in Google search. There were many sensitive and personal things like mental health, relationship problems, job stress, or emotional confusion. All this happened when the users’ chats indexed in Google due to a feature of Chatgpt and they started looking for the common people.

How did the data leak?

Openai had given a “share” button in Chatgpt through which users could make a link to their conversation and share it with others. During this process, there was an option “Make this chat discoveble”, which on turning on, that chat started appearing in search engines like Google. Many users turned it on without understanding it, they felt that this chat is necessary to share it with friends. For this reason, about 4,500 chats became public on Google, many of which were very private.

Openai’s answer

After this entire case came to light, Openai immediately removed that “discoveble” option. A spokesperson of the company said that it was a small experiment which later became the cause of misunderstanding. Now it is clearly written in the FAQ of Chatgpt that no shared chat is public until the user deliberately makes it worth discovering.

What do users do now?

If you have ever shared a chat, then follow these steps immediately.

  • Open Chatgpt and go to Settings.
  • Select data controls.
  • Tap on manage near Shared Links.
  • All your shared chats will be seen here, you can delete the links you want to remove.

There is no legal privacy in Chatgpt

Openai’s CEO Sam Altman himself has said that users should not expect legal privacy on Chatgpt. There is no clear law on AI chats yet. In such a situation, if a legal matter is made in future, then Openai may have to hand over the user’s chat data to the court.
